Bernardino de Cárdenas Ponce (died 1668) was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Bishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (1666-1668) and Bishop of Paraguay (1640-1666).[1][2][3]

Biography

Bernardino de Cárdenas Ponce was ordained a priest in the Order of Friars Minor.[1] On August 13, 1640, he was selected by the King of Spain and confirmed by Pope Urban VIII as Bishop of Paraguay.[1] On October 14, 1641, he was consecrated Bishop by Melchor Maldonado y Saavedra, Bishop of Córdoba.[1] On June 7, 1666, he was selected by the King of Spain and confirmed by Pope Alexander VII as Bishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.[1] He served as Bishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra until his death in 1668.[1]
