Benton Harbor High School is a high school in Benton Harbor, Michigan, United States, and is part of the Benton Harbor Area Schools.
Overview
The school is made up of a number of "learning communities":
- Communication, Arts & Business Academy
- Human Services Academy
- Science & Engineering Academy
In 2009, the school received a $52,000 grant from the U.S. federal government's stimulus program to upgrade its cafeteria equipment. The school was eligible for the grant because more than half its students were eligible to receive free or reduced-cost school meals.[3]
Athletics
Benton Harbor High School boys basketball team represents Benton Harbor High School in the SMAC or the big 16. Benton Harbor High School's mascot is a tiger. The Tigers play their home games at what is now called Don Farnum Gymnasium. The boys basketball team won state championships in 1941,1964 and 1965.[4]
