Besni is a district of Adıyaman Province of Turkey, 44 km west of the city of Adıyaman. The population of the eponymous city center was 29,102 in 2010. The mayor is İbrahim Öztürk (SP).

The town was brought into the Islamic world by the Ummayads and brought into the Ottoman Empire by sultan Selim I.

Besni is an agricultural region best known for its high quality pale-coloured raisins (which is known as "Grapes of Besni" ) and for a meat and vegetable casserole dish called Besni Tavası.

All the mountain slopes covered by vineyards."Bedirse" was the famous region for "summer vineyard houses". In the past, because of the danger of earthquakes, many families have migrated to the cities of western Turkey.
