Behavioral Recognition Systems, Inc. (BRS Labs) is a Houston, Texas based software development company which has created the world's first Behavioral Analytics technology that analyzes video content by imitating learning and memory processes of the human brain.[1] This fully automated, scalable surveillance technology is different from all Video Analytics systems since it is able to autonomously detect abnormal behavior in real time, without the need of human intervention.[2] The BRS Labs’ computer software that utilizes the Behavioral Analytics technology, called AISight, monitors a scene through each camera separately and learns on behavior. This system combines computer vision with cognitive machine learning processes, and it develops patterns for different classes of objects.[1] These patterns later become rules for the system that autonomously detaches normal situations from those that can be possible threats.

History

Behavioral Recognition Systems, Inc. (BRS Labs) was founded in 2005, by Ray Davis, an entrepreneur involved in technology start-ups from the '90's, including SimDesk, CyNet and OnDisk.[3] In the same year, the company started developing the Behavioral Analytics, working closely with its partners from the security industry.

In 2008, Network World ranked the BRS Labs among "10 IT Security Companies to Watch".[3]

Next year, the AISight was finally launched, after series of testing and forty patents.

In the same year, the BRS Labs' software won the first prize in the first annual ASIS International "ASIS Accolades" program which honors the security industry's most innovative products, services and solutions.[4] BRS Labs also won the Security Industry Association's (SIA) New Product Showcase (NPS) Award in Video Analytics, at ISC West, for two consecutive years.[1]

BRS Labs' product AISight® was recognized by the industry further with the 2012 Counter Terrorism and Specialist Security (CTSS) Award at the Counter Terror Expo in London, United Kingdom.

In 2010 and the first quarter of 2011, BRS Labs expanded its sales in defense, homeland security, intelligence, critical infrastructure, petrochemical, transit, global banking and other sectors. To support this growth, BRS Labs has expanded its sales network on sales executives and engineers from the intelligence community, the U.S. special operations, corporate security, systems integrators, defense contractors, video analytics, video management and PSIM companies.[5]

In 2009, the company's contract base was $10 million. By the end of 2010, the company was engaged in over $200 million in sales. The first quarter of 2011 showed a 500% revenue increase over the same quarter last year.[5]
