Beagle Island

Beagle Island is a low, flat granite island, with an area of 1.2 ha, in south-eastern Australia. It is part of Tasmania’s Badger Island Group, lying in eastern Bass Strait west of Flinders and Cape Barren Islands in the Furneaux Group. It is a nature reserve.[1] The island is also part of the Chalky, Big Green and Badger Island Groups Important Bird Area.[2]

Fauna

Recorded breeding seabird and wader species are little penguin, short-tailed shearwater, Pacific gull, silver gull, sooty oystercatcher, black-faced cormorant and Caspian tern.[1]
