Barrett Comiskey

Barrett Comiskey is the founder and CEO of Migo.[1]

At MIT, Comiskey invented the microencapsulated electrophoretic display, commercialized by E Ink, which he co-founded in 1997.[2] He began his work on a paper-like electronic display during nights and weekends at the MIT Media Lab in 1995, at the age of 19.[2]] Over the next decade, Comiskey developed and industrialized the technology at MIT and subsequently at E Ink,[3] in both Cambridge, Massachusetts and Shanghai, China.[4]

For its role in the evolution of the publishing industry, E Ink has been called “the greatest innovation since Gutenberg.”[5]

Comiskey founded Migo in 2009.[6] Migo develops and deploys new technologies to deliver digital media to mobile-first consumers in emerging markets.[1]

Comiskey grew up in New York City,[4] and has been in Asia since 2004, living in Shanghai, Taipei and Manila.[1][2]

Comiskey holds 72 patents.[7] He was recognized as a “Technology Pioneer” by the World Economic Forum,[8] and is an inductee of the National Inventors Hall of Fame (2016).[2]

Comiskey holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University, a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT and attended Regis High School in New York City.[2][6]
