The Bangladesh International School Dammam (BISD) is an international school located in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia.

It was established on 1 January 1987. H. E. Hedayet Ahmed, then Ambassador of Bangladesh, proposed the school as a part of the education and cultural wing of the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia. Currently the school is run by Acting Principal, Mr.Rajjol Monsoom (Head of Department,Physics) and Acting Vice Principal Mr.M.M.M Nawfal(Head of Department,Chemistry). The school has nearly 1500 students from Bangladesh , India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Pakistan.

The school has two sections:

Curriculum

BISD follows the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (UCLES) for its course structure. Students appear for their 'O' level examination after completing Grade X under UCLES and 'A' level examination after completing Grade XII under UCLES. Both of the examinations take place with the supervision of the British Council situated in Eastern Province. BISD has 16 male teachers and 37 female teachers.

Toastmasters International (TI)

BISD introduced Toastmasters International and Gavel Clubs on 7 February 2015.

Gavel clubs are a way of providing the Toastmasters experience to groups who may be ineligible for regular membership due to member age, inability to pay dues or other circumstances. Following similar Toastmasters club meeting protocols, they use club officer titles and education manuals. However, gavel club members are called "Gaveliers". Gavel clubs also provide Toastmasters members and clubs with an excellent opportunity for community service.

Hosting of Cambridge International Examinations CIE

Bangladesh International School Dammam has been hosting IGCSE and AS/A Level Cambridge International Examinations since 2015.

Achievements

At the 2006 British Council annual awards ceremony, Muhammad Ehsanul Hoque was honoured for achieving first place in mathematics and economics at 'A' level. Akil Muhammad Habibullah was ranked first in chemistry at 'O' level.[1]

At the graduation ceremony, in May 2007, it was announced that in 2006 the school had a 100 percent success rate for students in their final examinations.[2]

In 2011, Fahim Abdullah, who studied in this school since 2000 and is known very well being top in the class during his school and also he got top in IGCSE and GCE A levels and achieved three awards : Top in the World in Additional Mathematics and Mathematics (without coursework) and Top in Dammam in Physics in International General Certificate of Secondary Education examination.[3]

Another brilliant student, Maleeha Chowdhury, who studied in this school since 1998 also achieved Best Across Four Cambridge A levels, Top in Saudi Arabia in Chemistry . She is currently a student of Medicine at Batterjee Medical College in Jeddah.[4]
