Baldomero Lamela (1805-1867) was a Argentine military, who had participated in the Argentine Civil Wars.[1] In 1833 participated in the campaign to the desert led by Juan Manuel de Rosas.[2]

Biography

Baldomero Lamela was born in Carmen de Areco, the son of Marcelo Lamela and Francisca Antonia Raña. He had married with Saturnina Luengo, born in Montevideo.[3] His son Baldomero Lamela (1838-1901), was Intendant of Areco. And had also been military, participated in the Paraguayan War and the Conquest of the Desert.[4] Was married to Elvira Canaveri, daughter of Joaquín Canaveri (judge of peace).[5]

Lamela fought against the forces of Juan Lavalle, and participates in the Battle of Márquez Bridge to orders of Juan Manuel de Rosas. He also participates in the Battle of Quebracho Herrado.[6]

In 1838 Baldomero Lamela had been appointed by Rosas, as judge of peace of Areco,[7] village populated mostly by Creoles but also Italians, French, English, Irish (numerous community), and some Americans.[8]
