Bahuni is a Village Development Committee in Morang District in the Koshi Zone of South-Eastern Nepal. With reference to National Population and Housing Census, 2011, it had a population of 12,180 people living in 2,810 individual households. Among the total population, 5,649 are Males while 6,531 are Females. The population Density is 317 per Km Square.

The PuranoBahuni bazaar was the 2nd oldest market of Morang district after Rangeli. Later the bazaar was shifted near the canal side and founded the Bahuni Bazaar Bikash Samitee. The V.D.C also holds a dense forest named Singhadevi Community Forest which is divided by the east-west highway.

The neighbouring VDC's are Keroun, Hoklabari, Dangihat, Kaseni, Babiyabirta, and municipalities are Letang and Belbari. Chisang river seperates Bahuni from Keroun and is the main river of the V.D.C.

The VDC is connected with the country's largest east-west Mahendra Highway. There are many private schools in the region namely Shree Gyanodaya Secondary English School, Shree Himalayan Secondary School where quality education is provided. There are 2 government run high schools in the VDC. Most of the youths travel to nearest city like Biratnagar, Ithari, Belbari, Dharan and even to the capital city for high school and college degree.

There are no any notable big industries and financial organizations in the region recently. Agriculture and foreign remittance is the main source of income to the people of the VDC.

There is a garage certified as homebased industry named Om Machinery and Repairing Center where agricultural tools are manufactured and repaired using Leth Machine. Ram Bahadur Khadka is the CEO of the garage and lies on the heart of Bahuni Camp Bazaar. There is an A.P.F camp on the opposite side of the bazaar along the canal which successfully renamed the place as "Bahuni Camp".

There is an only cinema house Hanumaan Chalchitra Mandir for basically youth population to entertain latest Nepali and Hindi movies that covers almost the area Constituency 3 of Morang district.

Kaalithaan Mandir which lies near the Chisaang river is the most famous temple of the area receiving maximum devotees both from India and Nepal. Shree Nava Durga Panchayan Mandir built recently on Kadamchowk have also become a part of attention in the region.

It is believed Bahuni consist an oil mining center at Bahuni-9 and project was on the way but later it was stopped by the goverment because of peer-pressure from india as said by the reporters. [1]
