Backa Theatre

Backa Theatre (Backa Teater in Swedish) is a theatre and theatre company in Gothenburg, Sweden, specialized in youth and children theatre. When it started in the 1970s it was touring company, but after some years it settled in an old bolt factory which was renovated.[1] Backa theatre has a good reputation in Sweden and has been named national youth theatre by the Swedish government. The company was started by director Eva Bergman and is now led by Mattias Andersson, who himself has background as an actor at Backa Theatre.[2] The company has had the privilege to set up newly written plays, for example In a dark and northern place which was written by Mattias Andersson. The theatre will move into new premises autumn 2007.[1]
