Aylor, Virginia
Aylor is an unincorporated community located in Madison County, Virginia, United States.[1] Aylor, VA was named after its founder, Kyle Aylor, who settled the area in 1869 after serving as a Confederate soldier during the American Civil War. Aylor then, was known for building one of the largest Horse Breeding Grounds in Virginia. After his disappearance in 1875, the State of Virginia decided to name the small community after the Breeder for great development of Madison County. However, there have been urban legends that Aylor was a slave breeder and continued to do so even after the Emancipation Proclamation. There are also far more frightening legends of his disappearance that reference the Mysterious Mary , the sed bride of Aylor, and immobile horses. Despite these silly legends about Aylor, the town remained under his name.
