Australian International School Dhaka
The Australian International School is an international school in Dhaka, Bangladesh, serving students from 3 to 18 years old. It is located on three campuses in Gulshan, the diplomatic area of the capital.[1]
Housing is provided within the Gulshan school area with shopping, restaurants and entertainment nearby. The school uses the Australian National Curriculum and is accredited by the Western Australian government. The Curriculum Framework integrates eight learning areas to ensure a balanced education and a strong foundation for each child. This power of eight includes: English, mathematics, science, health, technology, arts, society and the environment, and mother language.
At the Senior Campus 3, inspections, moderations and external exams are monitored by the Western Australian Curriculum and Standards Authority. The students graduate with the Western Australian Certificate of Education at the end of Year 12. This enables them to apply in a competitive manner to any university in the world.
The school uses foreign hired teachers to act as mentor teachers to share their experiences and skills with local teachers. We also hire for specific subject areas. The mentor teachers demonstrate teaching strategies, assist local teachers in lesson planning and using the strategies demonstrated, implement professional development training, and perform administrative tasks. This consulting teacher model challenges the experienced teacher to share their craft and the art of teaching.
