Ashok Parnami is a State President of BJP, Rajasthan and MLA of Rajasthan from Jaipur city in India.[1] He is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. He has served as mayor of Jaipur.
In 2006, Parnami was involved in the Deendayal Upadhyaya Trust land scam.[2] While he was mayor of Jaipur, a large plot of prime land was allotted at extremely concessional rates[3] to a trust which was yet to be registered. [4] Normally such concessional grants require that the body have done good work for at least three years.[5]
Highest rise in wealth
As per his election declarations, Parnami's assets went from Rs 3.66 crore in 2008[6] to Rs 26.61 crore in 2013.[7] According to the survey by the Association for Democratic Reforms, this seven-fold rise in wealth (+627%) over five years was the highest among elected politicians in Rajasthan.[8]
