Ashley Costello

Ashley Costello, also known as Ash, is the lead vocalist of the rock band New Years Day. She is the only remaining founding member of the band.

Style and Bat Royalty

Costello's style of dress, like the musical style of New Years Day, has been described as "goth" due to its frequent incorporation of elements such as skeletal features and other macabre themes. In 2015, Costello created "Bat Royalty" in collaboration with Iron Fist Clothing line.

Musical Influences

Costello cites many musical influences, including but not limited to My Chemical Romance, No Doubt, Paramore, The Used, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Motionless In White and others. Costello has stated during many interviews that she often considers the band's sound to be a 'lovechild' of My Chemical Romance and Paramore and also explains her half red/orange, half black hair by suggesting that the reddish-orange was inspired by Hayley Williams of Paramore, whereas the black was inspired by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. New Years Day has covered the Lady Gaga song "Bad Romance". The band also collaborated with Chris Cerulli or Chris Motionless of Motionless In White on the New Years Day song "Angel Eyes" from the band's 2013 full-length album, Victim to Villain.
