  1. Arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe, (subprefecture: Avesnes-sur-Helpe) with 151 communes. The area of the arrondissement is 1,407.51 km2, and its population was 245,460 in 1990, 238,466 in 1999 (a decrease of 2.85%) and 236,691 in 2010 (a further decrease of 0.75%).
  2. Arrondissement of Cambrai, (subprefecture: Cambrai) with 116 communes. The area of the arrondissement is 901.58 km2, and its population was 162,162 in 1990, 158,845 in 1999 (a decrease of 2.05%) and 164,159 in 2010 (an increase of 3.35%).
  3. Arrondissement of Douai, (subprefecture: Douai) with 64 communes. The area of the arrondissement is 476.59 km2, and its population was 247,015 in 1990, 246,987 in 1999 (a decrease of 0.01%) and 252,595 in 2010 (an increase of 2.27%).
  4. Arrondissement of Dunkerque (Dunkirk), (subprefecture: Dunkerque) with 113 communes. The area of the arrondissement is 1,442.73 km2, and its population was 375,073 in 1990, 379,702 in 1999 (an increase of 1.23%) and 384,123 in 2010 (a further increase of 1.16%).
  5. Arrondissement of Lille, (prefecture of the Nord department: Lille) with 124 communes. The area of the arrondissement is 879.53 km2, and its population was 1,152,883 in 1990, 1,182,026 in 1999 (an increase of 2.53%) and 1,226,377 in 2010 (a further increase of 3.75%).
  6. Arrondissement of Valenciennes, (subprefecture: Valenciennes) with 82 communes. The area of the arrondissement is 634.80 km2, and its population was 349,262 in 1990, 348,994 in 1999 (a decrease of 0.08%) and 353,994 in 2010 (an increase of 1.43%).
