Arriva UK Bus is a major bus operator in the United Kingdom. It is a subsidiary of Arriva which runs transport services across Europe.
Based in Sunderland, Arriva UK Bus operates 5,900 buses in London, the North East, North West and South East of England, Yorkshire, The Midlands and Wales. It employs 16,000 people.[1]
Divisions
Arriva's bus network in the UK originates from its acquisition of Grey-Green in 1980 and British Bus in August 1996.[2][3] It has the following operating units:
- Arriva Buses Wales – separated from Arriva North West & Wales in January 2009
- Arriva London – consisting of Arriva London North and Arriva London South. Regulated by Transport for London.
- Arriva Midlands – consisting of Arriva Derby, Arriva Fox County, Arriva Midlands North, Hinckley Bus, Stevensons of Uttoxeter and City Linx (Tamworth)
- Arriva North East – consisting of Arriva Teesside, Arriva Tees & District, Arriva Durham County & Arriva Northumbria
- Arriva North West – consisting of Arriva Merseyside & Arriva North West
- Arriva Shires & Essex – consisting of Arriva East Herts & Essex, Arriva The Shires & Arriva Milton Keynes
- Arriva Southern Counties – consisting of Arriva Guildford & West Surrey, Arriva Kent & Sussex, Arriva Kent Thameside, Arriva Maidstone, Arriva Medway Towns, Arriva Southend & New Enterprise Coaches
- Arriva Yorkshire – All five Yorkshire based depots now operate under Arriva Yorkshire Limited
- Green Line – operates express coach services between London and the Home Counties
- Tellings-Golden Miller – including Classic Coaches, Flight Delay Services, Network Colchester, Network Harlow, Network Stansted and OFJ Connections
- The Heritage Fleet
- Yorkshire Tiger – taken over by Arriva in September 2013, which also includes Tiger Blue and Flying Tiger
Former divisions
- Arriva Scotland West sold to McGill's Bus Services in March 2012[4][5]
- The Original Tour sold to RATP Group in September 2014[6]
Branding
Fleet livery is aquamarine and blue. Notable exceptions are Arriva London, Arriva Shires & Essex, Arriva Kent Thameside and Tellings-Golden Miller where buses operating services for Transport for London are painted red. Yorkshire Tiger buses are painted in an orange livery and Tiger Blue blue. Some of the coach operations purchased retain their existing liveries, including Classic Coaches, Flight Delay Services, Network Colchester, New Enterprise Coaches and OFJ Connections.
in some regions, premium services are operated under the Sapphire brand[7] while interurban services are operated under the Max brand.[8]
