The Notice of the Day (Spanish: Arregui, La Noticia del Día) is a 2001 Argentine comedy-drama film directed and written by María Victoria Menis with Diana Iceruk. The film, which premiered on 2 August 2001 in Buenos Aires, stars Enrique Pinti and Carmen Maura. Maura was nominated for a Silver Condor Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her role in the film.

Overview

The film is a tragicomedy and addresses social issues of legal corruption, unemployment, an absence of prospects for young people, accelerated decadence in the standard of living and increasing violence in the country. The story revolves around the life of Leopold, (Enrique Pinti), a middle-class father; his wife Isabel (Carmen Maura) working for a decadent comedian; Beto, the son, a taxi driver; and Martita, the daughter, a divorced and unemployed hairdresser. All live in a mundane 40 square-meter apartment. One day Leopoldo takes it upon himself to donate blood. The next day, he is summoned once more to the hospital. His life is about to change forever.
