Around the World is a song concept produced and recorded by local producer Beat Ink on December 1, 2007 and released on the same day. The song heavily samples ATC's Around The World (La La La La La) and uses urban, 2000s-style drumbeats. The song would later span over 70 recorded versions from various artists released on YouTube and MySpace.

Background

Around the World's sample, ATC's Around The World (La La La La La), was produced and recorded by Alex Christensen on December 1, 1999 at RNT Studios, Sweden and first released on May 9, 2000 and performed well in the European and global charts from 2000 to 2002 (reaching #1 in Germany in Summer 2000). The Eurodance and Trance song, which features vocals from German pop group ATC (Joseph Murray, Livio Salvi, Sarah Egglestone and Tracey Packham), is an international cover of Ruki Vverh!'s Pesenka (1998), a Russian Eurodance song. It would later be used for various covers, remixes and other versions. The song sample spent its early years without being sampled until sometime in 2007. In late 2007, unknown producer Beat Ink started finding Eurodance song samples for his concept. Then on December 1, 2007, after listening to ATC's Around The World (7 and half years after release), he took that sample and used it into his song concept after convincing it. He wanted and got to produce the song concept because the song sample has been considered 'the best' and people worldwide (including 'ATC' and 'Around The World' fans) enjoyed listening to it a lot since its release in 2000. On that night, he finalized what would be the hip-hop version of ATC's Around The World and shared it to other producers and artists who opted to record their version of that song. The first version using Beat Ink's Around the World was first released on MySpace on May 14, 2008[1] and on YouTube on June 17, 2008.[2] The song concept also spanned several versions from The Emsee, Chris Webby, Oregonized and more.

Composition

Around the World is a hip-hop song concept convinced and produced by local producer Beat Ink on December 1, 2007. It features the sample of ATC's Around The World (La La La La La) (2000). The low-pitch, slow tempo of the sample could be heard since its release in 2000, and it can be heard on YouTube or used via audio editing software today. During production of his song concept, Beat Ink slowed down the sample to 0.7274x or -27.26% from ATC's original speed and used his rare and unique drum kit that sounds like that of 2000s hip hop and dance-pop music, running at 96 beats per minute. The sample is used into intro, melody, chorus and mid-song elements. The low-pitched vocals of ATC are heard in intro, chorus and outro elements of the sample as its original version. The drumbeats used by Beat Ink are heard from the time mark of 0:25 to 3:25 (3 minutes). Beat Ink's Around the World, in its finalized form, features a 25-second intro, 3 40-second verses, 3 20-second choruses and a 21-second outro for the total length of 3 minutes and 46 seconds (or 3:46). The song concept starts with an intro, goes to the verse followed by the chorus, then the same verse-chorus structure repeats twice more and ends with an outro. The song lyrics vary depending on any artist who recorded their vocals on it. The song concept's overall production would sound like it could have been made sometime between 2003-2006 (even after ATC's disbandment in 2003) because of the 2000s drumbeats made by Beat Ink.

Versions

Around the World saw releases on MySpace and YouTube spanning from May 2008 and on. The song is performed in over 70 versions (or possibly up to 100 versions) and about 4 languages: English, French, Spanish and German. While half of the versions are performed by artists from United States, other artists who performed in the latter half come from Canada, France, Norway, Germany and other parts of the world, making it the most culturally diverse song concept ever recorded. All versions can be found on YouTube, Google Search and MySpace. There are collective mixes featuring all versions of Around the World.[3][4]

Notable versions include:

Note: to find all those versions, go to Google Video and search 'around the world the emsee emusic/google play', 'around the world oregonized emusic' or 'lala sype d lee emusic'. You can add the year next to 'emusic' (2008 or other year, up to 2015). There, you can find versions or videos on YouTube that contain the content information of the same song name. Beside YouTube, go to MySpace and search 'around the world' or 'all around the world' There, you can find the versions that use the song concept (around time of 3:48 and years 2008 or 2009).

Miscellaneous

Although Beat Ink never released the original instrumental of his own song concept to the public worldwide (he only released it through a P2P network for song instrumentals), there are other artists and YouTube users who uploaded their similar versions on YouTube and/or MySpace users who did the same. Channel A7Xdrums014 released his remade instrumental version called "Chris Webby - La La La (Instrumental)" on June 10, 2012.[17] There is also a very original version with Beat Ink's original drumbeats.[18] According to YouTube, CD Baby today owns the rights to the song concept.

Today, Beat Ink's Around the World (in its instrumental and all versions) is considered to be one of the legacies of ATC and their hit song Around the World even after ATC got disbanded in 2003.
