The Army Institute of Management (formerly the National Institute of Management Calcutta (NIMC) is a graduate business school located in Kolkata, India. It was established on 28 July 1997 by the Indian Army under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), New Delhi, to conduct a management program for the wards of Army personnel with an opportunity for general candidates as well. The eco-friendly campus is spread over 9 acres (36,000 m2) of land at Alipore, in the City of Joy.

Name of the Institute has been changed to Army Institute of Management, Kolkata with effect from 11 Feb 2005.

Educational programs

The institute offers a two-year full-time MBA program leading to a postgraduate degree in MBA (prior to this, AIMK also offered MCA). Each year is split into two terms. The batch strength of the course is 120. Industrial internship is mandatory as a part of the MBA Curriculum. Every student undergoes eight weeks industrial internship at the end of the first year program.The institute is located in the heart of the city Kolkata, in the Alipore area few kilometres away from Taj Bengal

The accommodation consists of Eleven Huge hostel blocks.

The institute believes “Healthy minds dwell in healthy bodies“. There is a gymnasium for boys and girls, a football/cricket ground, badminton court, volleyball court, a basketball court, and an indoor table tennis block. Also a swimming pool and other sports facilities are provided at the nearby Army Campus.
