Argonne, South Dakota
Argonne is an extinct town in Miner County, in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place.[1]
History
Argonne was originally called St. Marys, and under the latter name was laid out in 1886.[2] A post office called Argonne was established in 1920, and remained in operation until 1954.[3] The present name commemorates the Battle of Meuse-Argonne.[2]
