Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is a television reality show and the Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Concept
In Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, celebrities perform various dances together with professional dance partners. The show's format is taken from the Strictly Come Dancing show on BBC One in the UK.[1] The show is also pre-recorded, unlike Strictly Come Dancing and other spin-offs.[1] Of the spin offs, the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is the only one that uses recorded tracks rather than live music with an in-house band.[1]
Season 6
The Season was judged by Madhuri Dixit, Remo D'souza and Karan Johar.The Season was hosted by former host Manish Paul and Comedian Kapil Sharma.The finale took place on 14 September 2013 and was won by Actress Drashti Dhami with Choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan.The highest scorer of the series Lauren Gottlieb with Choreographer Punit Pathak were the 1st runners up.[2]
Season 7
It was hosted by Ranvir Shorey[3] and Drashti Dhami who was later replaced by Manish Paul.
Remo D'souza, Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar are the judges. Maksim Chmerkovskiy was a guest judge for two weeks .The contestants are S. Sreesanth, Sophie Choudry, Purab Kohli, Karan Tacker, Mouni Roy, Kiku Sharda as Palak, Shakti Mohan, Sukhwinder Singh, Akshat Singh, Kritika Kamra, Ashish Sharma, VJ Andy and Puja Banerjee. Ashish Sharma and Shampa Gopikrishna were the winning team.[4]
Season 8
The eighth season was called Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded[5] was hosted by its former host Manish Paul.[6]
Karan Johar is the only judge to have continued his role in Jhalak; starting his 4th season this year. Shahid Kapoor, Lauren Gottlieb and Ganesh Hegde are the new judges added to the panel of the reloaded Jhalak format.[7] From 5 September, Malaika Arora Khan will replace Karan Johar.[8] The last episode featuring Karan Johar was aired on 30 August 2015. The Season was won by Dancer turned Actor Faisal Khan while TV Actress Sanaya Irani was the 1st Runner up and Actress Shamita Shetty was the 2nd Runner Up.
