Apple Springs Independent School District is a public school district based in Apple Springs, Texas (USA).
Finances
As of the 2010-2011 school year, the appraised valuation of property in the district was $29,249,000.[2] The maintenance tax rate was $0.104 and the bond tax rate was $0.000 per $100 of appraised valuation.[2]
Academic achievement
In 2002, Apple Springs High School was recognized by Texas Monthly as one of the top ten high schools in Texas in its economic group, based on ranking by the National Center for Educational Accountability.
In 2011, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[5] Forty-nine percent of districts in Texas in 2011 received the same rating.[6] No state accountability ratings will be given to districts in 2012.[7] A school district in Texas can receive one of four possible rankings from the Texas Education Agency: Exemplary (the highest possible ranking), Recognized, Academically Acceptable, and Academically Unacceptable (the lowest possible ranking).

Football
The school has a unique relationship with the nearby Hudson Independent School District.
Apple Springs participates in six-man football[3] but does not offer a band program, while Hudson has a band but does not participate in football. Therefore, the Hudson band participates at Apple Springs games. The unusual relationship was filmed by the crew of the popular Texas Country Reporter. The television show aired on November 16, 2008. Additional sports offered include volleyball, cross country, basketball, track, and baseball.
