History
- 1912.12.12: Apostolic Vicariate of Kivu formed from parts of the Apostolic Vicariate of Unyanyembe and the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Victoria Nyanza.
- 1921: Apostolic Vicariate of Kivu renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Urundi and Kivu
- 1922.04.25: Apostolic Vicariate of Urundi and Kivu divided into the Apostolic Vicariate of Urundi and the Apostolic Vicariate of Ruanda.
- 1949.07.14: Apostolic Vicariate of Urundi renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Kitega
- 1959.11.10: Apostolic Vicariate of Kitega promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Gitega
