Antonio Esposito (born 13 December 1972 in Lugano, Switzerland) is a Swiss-Italian former football midfielder who played throughout the 1990s and 2000s. He is remembered most for his time at Grasshopper Club Zürich and FC Basel.

Career

Esposito started playing professional football in 1992 with AC Lugano. In 1996, he signed for Grasshopper Club Zürich and had loan spells at Spain's CD Extremadura in 1999 and Italy's Cagliari Calcio in 2001. Later that year, he moved to AS Saint-Étienne of France but returned to Switzerland with FC Basel in 2002 and was part of the Basel team that reached the Second Group Phase of the UEFA Champions League. A.S. Varese 1910 acquired his services in 2004 before he retired with AC Lugano in 2005.
