Annapurna International School of Film and Media is evolving as one of the largest film schools of India. It's India’s first private, non-profit media school. The institute was founded by the Akkineni family, including Akkineni Nagarjuna and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. AISFM is located in Hyderabad, India.

AISFM offers courses in acting, directing, cinematography, editing, writing and producing. The Academic Advisory Board for the school includes filmmakers, actors and directors such as Farah Khan, Karan Johar, Hema Malini, Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi and Aparna Sen

About Annapurna Studios

Annapurna Studios, which has so far produced over 40 motion pictures, and has strategic partnerships with global players like Reliance Media Works, SGO-Spain and Light Illusion-UK, has recently invested Rs 100 crore to develop 100,000 sft of five new large-format, fully air-conditioned shooting floors at its 22-acre studio in Banjara Hills. Academics

On 20 June 2012, Annapurna International School of Film and Media (AISFM) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, to provide India's first government-recognized, full-time degree courses in filmmaking. The MoU is for a period of four years.[3]

Acting Course

AISFM holds two six-month acting courses every years. This course introduces beginners to the fundamentals of Acting and provides them with the foundation necessary to start a career in film and television. Recently three AIFSM acting students got their big break after being cast in the Telugu blockbuster Manam. Tollywood superstar, Nagarjuna, said: "Kaushal Sharma, Srikar Chittarbu and Krishna Yadavin deserved a place in the film." [4]

International collaborations

Northwestern University

Annapurna International School of Film + Media (AISFM) and Northwestern University's School of Communication recently completed the first Indian Cinema Seminar - a student and cultural exchange program conducted in Hyderabad, India. As part of this activity, 27 students and faculty from the Northwestern University's School of Communication campuses at Evanston (USA) and Doha (Qatar) spent a week at AISFM in Hyderabad. The seminar began with site visits to important radio and TV stations and film production studios, and completed with a 48-hour film making challenge. Five films were made collaboratively by Northwestern and AISFM students. [5]
