Angry Birds POP![1] is a tile matching game co-developed by Rovio Entertainment and Outplay Entertainment that was soft launched for iOS in Canada on December 22, 2014[2] and released worldwide for iOS and Android on March 12, 2015.[3] The game was the second game in the Angry Birds Stella series and a spin-off of Angry Birds.

It was first released as Angry Birds Stella POP!, however since the July 5, 2015 update, the Stella name was removed from the game's title and the new name is Angry Birds POP!. In October 2015, the game was added released as a Facebook game.

Gameplay

The game features a slingshot that the player uses to fling bubbles to pop the bubbles at the top of the screen, as long as three or more bubbles with the same color are matched. Each level has a limited number of bubbles and/or a time limit.

For two weeks in September 2015, a bird based on Shakira called Shakira Bird was playable; this was to promote the then upcoming game Love Rocks starring Shakira.

Reception

The freemium bubble popping Stella POP! is very similar to King's 2014 game Bubble Witch 2 Saga, however it has better graphics. The Macworld reviewer enjoyed it as a free game, with its light puzzle gameplay and good production values but once a barrier in play presents itself, the reviewer thought it was best to do something else.[4]
