Anemopaegma mirandum is one species that shares the name of catuaba, and it specifically goes by catuaba-verdadeira. There is concern that this plant might be exploited from its natural Amazonian habitat.
This species has cell protective, [1] and possibly parkinsons preventative properties in medicine. [2]
