Andy Clockwise (Born Andy Kelly) is an Australian-born musician, performer, writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Andy currently resides in Los Angeles. Clockwise likes to describe his style as "Schizo Pop",[1] while his musical genre is Indie/Pop. He has been compared to a mixture of LCD Soundsytem and Nick Cave. The tracks on his latest EP release "Dancing World" are reminiscent of a modern New Order anthem. Andy's Clockwise’s 80s synth-pop is mixed with modern-day electronic. His sound is driven by soaring beats and brooding vocals, all delivered with rock and roll attitude. As vulture magazine put it, “Clockwise is very unlike much of what we’re seeing in current dance music .... He is refreshingly soulful experimental.”

Andy has headlined his own tour as well as supported artists such as INXS, and Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers, The Black Keys, Warpaint, The Addicts, The Wailers, and Julian Casablancas. His latest single 'Hopeless' from the "Dancing World" EP, featuring Holly Valance has been garnering great press and buzz in the US as well as in the UK, receiving thousands of plays on Soundcloud and international coverage on The Guardian, The Daily Mail and Digital Spy. The EP's lead single 'Dancing World' has been circulating on specialty radio including KROQ, KCRW and 98.7 in LA and over 60 stations in North America reaching #12 on the speciality FMQBY Radio Chart .

He is currently involved in many side projects including, "Death by Paisley," which features members of the band, "Heart and Perry Farrell's Satellite Party," “Camilla Parker-Bowles", "Gala Dali and the Other Lovers", "This Choir Kills Fascists", "Super Andy", "SPOD" and "Movement Jones".

Band history

Early Years (2002–06)

Born in Sydney to an artistic family, Clockwise was sent to boarding school for his secondary education. As he says, "for getting into too much trouble at a fairly young age." In 2002, Andy had no place to live and he made a deal with a friend to produce his demo tape in return for a couch to sleep on. While helping his friend, Andy also recorded his own EP. After submitting it to the Australian radio station, "Triple J", Andy had started an "almost overnight" musical career.[2] In 2004, Andy recorded his EP "Song Exhibition". This EP was also on the Australian Top Modern Rock Charts Top 20 for 7 months.

Classic FM and Tour (2006–07)

In 2006, Andy recorded the double concept album inspired by an imaginary radio station, "Classic FM," which he had written, produced, engineered, and mixed in his home studio. Andy Clockwise went on multiple national tours supporting acts such as, "INXS". In 2007 Andy had headlined his own national tour which included sold out crowds.[3]

Living in LA/Yard Sale EP (2007–09)

Andy moved to LA in 2007. In early 2009, Andy self released his EP, "Yard Sale".

Are You Well?/The Socialite (2009–10)

“Are You Well?" was released as a promotional radio EP for the U.S. in 2009. The EP featured the single "Love and War," released in Australia. To support the album, Clockwise toured with, The Strokes front man Julian Casablancas.

The single, "Love and War," was also released through, "Triple J" in Australia.

On 26 April 2011, Clockwise's first U.S. LP entitled The Socialite was released in the United States. In February 2011, "Love and War" was featured on an episode of the CW drama 90210. In May 2011, "The Casanova (Remember Love)" was featured in an episode of CSI:Miami.

Dancing World (2012–2014)

Andy released his newest EP, Dancing World in 2014, but released singles leading up to the EP in 2012. The EP is a culmination of his experiences on the road and at home in the United States, and as Clockwise states, "It's about the wars we put each other through...a pop musical ode to dysfunctionality".It mixes elements of Folk and Electronic music to create a refreshing new sound. In support of the album he toured with the likes of The Adicts and Warpaint, among others. The singles "Steam Dream" and "Murphy's Law" have been in rotation on LA's KROQ, Alt-98.7, and KCRW.
