Andrew D. Appleby is the American founder of General Sports and Entertainment, a sports and entertainment marketing and management firm.
In school he was an All American, and he won three State Wrestling Championships, becoming the New England Wrestling Champion in 1981. He also was an All-State Cross Country Runner, and home course record holder. Appleby has a master's degree in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Science in English and Health Fitness from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.[1]
A former senior vice president of the Detroit Pistons basketball team,[2] Appleby formed General Sports and Entertainment in Detroit, Michigan in 1998. On the 28 January 2008, General Sports and Entertainment purchased Derby County Football Club in England.[3] As a result, Appleby became the chairman of the club.[4]
