Anchor, Texas
Anchor is an Unincorporated community in central Brazoria County, Texas that formerly had a distinct community. The location of Anchor is at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 521 and County Road 44, 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Angleton.[1]
Some believe the community was named after a local cattle brand, while others hold it was named after Anchor, Illinois, the native home of an early settler.[2]
Popular culture
- There is an old episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show, number 146, entitled "Remember the Alimony", which is purportedly set in Anchor. However, given that Anchor is supposed to be a few miles from Mexico, and suffers dust storms, the fictional Anchor bears little resemblance to the actual.
