Anamika Choudhari (also spelt as Anamika Chaudhary), born on July 7, 1995 in Mariani, Jorhat of Assam belongs to Bengali/ Assamese Hindu family and was the winner in Zee TV's children's singing competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs International. This was the first time L'il Champs went international because the first season, in which Sanchita Bhattyacharya was declared the winner by Shahrukh Khan, had contestants from India only.[1] Aditya Narayan was the host of the show.

Performances

She had always reached one of the Top 3 positions throughout the competition and always got good comments from the judges Sonu Nigam and Suresh Wadkar. She had never been in the danger zone. Suresh Wadkar complimented her by saying that, “Anamika has a beautiful voice. When it comes to melody and reaching till the last note, she is in a different league”.[2] Wadkar also praised Anamika, saying that “Anamika (Chaudhuri) ki voice mein jitni sureelapan hai utni hi woh mehnati hai”.[3]

Anamika eventually went on to win the first ever International L'il Champs. She was declared the winner on March 1, 2008 receiving a total of 44 lakh 80 thousand votes. Her fellow contestant Rohanpreet Singh was the first runner-up receiving a total of 38 lakh 47 thousand votes, and Tanmay Chaturvedi was the second runner-up receiving more than 34 lakh votes.[4]

The Grand Finale was attended by lots of legendary figures from the Bollywood Music fraternity like Anand Bakshi, Penaz Masani. Past SaReGaMaPa show contestants, Debojit, Sumedha, Aishwarya, Mauli Dave and many others were also there as special guests. Both the judges, Sonu Nigam and Suresh Wadkar gave some scintillating performances, along with top ten contestants and the three finalists of L'il Champ 2006. Ajay Devgan and Kajol were the special celebrity guests. Anamika was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 20 lakhs, and a Hyundai car by the CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Pradeep Guha.

Post L'il Champs, she participated in Chota Packet Bada Dhamaka, where she secured 4th position. She then participated in Hero Honda SaReGaMaPa Mega Challenge representing Assam along with Abhigyan Das and Joy Chakraborty.[5] Assam reached till the Semifinals round where they lost to the Kolkata team.[6]
