Amity University is a multi campus private research university in India established by an Act of Uttar Pradesh legislature.[3]
History
Amity University was formed by Ashok Chauhan, the founder of the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation. Amity University was India's first private university slated to implement reservations based on caste etc. for both faculty as well as students,[4] The school was started in 2003 with an enrollment of 120 students. In 2011, it had 80,000 students in 240 programs. It now has more than 125,000 students from all over the world.[5]
Atul Chauhan is President of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and Chancellor of Amity University.[6] Aseem Chauhan is the Additional President of the Foundation.[7] In 2007, USA Today reported that Ashok Chauhan, the founder of Amity, expected that generations of his family will control the school.[6]

Recognition
Amity University, Noida is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC),[8][9] Distance education programs by Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus is recognized by Distance Education Bureau (DEB).[10] Amity Noida was accredited by the NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment Council) with grade A in 2012.[11] A number of management programs are accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs).[12]
Amity University Dubai is accredited by KHDA, Government of Dubai.[13] The Dubai campus is a branch of Amity University in India and offers UGC-recognised degrees.[13]
Rankings
The university received several rankings in the 2013 India Today college rankings. It was ranked in India's Top 30 universities.[14][15] Its engineering school was ranked top amongst India's emerging colleges.[16] Its BBA and LLB program were ranked #1 in India.[17] The School of Communication was ranked #5 amongst Mass Communication programs in India.[18] The Fashion Design program was ranked seventh in India.[19]
In 2014, Amity University has been named by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) as one of Asia's top 300 universities. It is one of 17 varsities from India to be included in this list (the others being 8 of the IITs, University of Delhi, University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, Manipal University, Panjab University, University of Pune, BHU and Birla Institute of Technology and Science)[20][21][22][23]
Amity International Business School has been ranked with 3 Palms of Excellence by Eduniversal.[24]
Amity Directorate of Distance & Online Education (ADDOE) Online MBA was listed by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) among the top 25 programs in the world.[25]
The university has been named by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) as one of the BRICS countries top 200 universities.[26][27]
A twelve-member delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Government headed by state's Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao visited Amity University, Noida in order to study first-hand success story of the University.[28]
BSE- Amity
BSE Institute, an arm of leading stock exchange BSE, has inked a pact with Amity University, Noida to launch a distance learning MBA programme in global financial markets. As per the memorandum of understanding, students and working professionals would be able to pursue an MBA in Global Financial Markets, which is of two-year duration.[29][30]

Amity University has business schools across various cities in India under the name of Amity Global Business School,[31] in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Greater Noida, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Noida, Raipur, Patna, and Pune.
Amity Law School.[32] The law school is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in New Delhi.
Amity University additionally operates international campuses in London, Dubai, Singapore, Mauritius, New Jersey, and China.[33]
