Amity University, Gurgaon has been established under the Haryana Act 10 of 2010 by Government of Haryana.[1][2][3][4][5] The University held its first convocation in the month of February, 2015.[6]

History

Amity University, Gurgaon has been established by the Haryana Act 10 of 2010 by Government of Haryana. AUH is a private university established by the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF), New Delhi which is a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Amity University, Gurgaon is the first private university in Haryana to be brought under the purview of the Right to Information Act.[7]

Academics

The University is currently offering more than 100 programs in the field of Management, Engineering, Bio-technology, Applied Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Environment, Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Journalism & Mass Communications, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, Foreign Language, Law, Architecture, Medical, Commerce, Economics, Fashion, Fine Arts, Liberal Arts, Laser Technology and Optoelectronics and Hotel Management both at undergraduate and post graduate levels, besides offering Doctoral Degree in many of these disciplines.[8][9][10]

Convocation

1st Convocation of the university was held on 20 February 2015 and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi, Bharat Ratna Prof C N R Rao and Padma Vibhushan recipient Dr G Madhavan Nair were all conferred honorary doctorates. Alongside, 1,038 graduands were awarded degrees and diplomas.[11]

Rankings and reputation

Amity University, Gurgaon, has been awarded the 'Best Private Engineering University of 2015' by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The award was given by Nitin Gadkari, Union minister for road transport and highways, during a national summit on —Smart Transportation Infra Summit and Expo 2015' held in Delhi.[12]
