Location

Alvik metro station is a station on the green line of the Stockholm metro, and the Tvärbanan and Nockebybanan tramways, located in Traneberg, Västerort. The station was inaugurated on 26 October 1952.

Nockebybanan, which had continued into Stockholm before the construction of the Metro, was rebuilt with two terminating tracks located for cross-platform interchange between the green line platforms.

In 2000 Tvärbanan was connected to Alvik, which is the northern terminus of the line. An extension to Solna is expected to open in autumn 2013 via a tunnel towards Ulvsunda. Two platforms for Tvärbanan are located below and slightly to the west of the Metro/Nockebybanan platforms.

At the west end of the station, the Metro and Nockebybanan are connected by shared tracks (electrified with both third rail and overhead lines) to Brommadepån. A curved tunnel connects the depot to the lower Tvärbanan tracks.
