The All American Freeway is a controlled access highway located in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The road parallels NC 24 and NC 87 for much of its length between Owen Drive in Fayetteville and Community Center Road in Fort Bragg.
The length of the freeway is designated Secondary Road 1007. SR 1007 also continues east from the south end of the freeway along Owen Drive to Wilmington Highway (SR 2337, formerly NC 87).[2]
History
- 1963: The state announced plans for the Owen Drive Freeway to link the Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force Base with the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center area.[3]
- May 9, 1974: Construction of the 8.2-mile (13.2 km) freeway began.[3]
- September 15, 1978: The All American Freeway was officially completed.[3]
- 1993: Construction of the Cliffdale Rd. exits begin. The exits opened in 2003.
The road was built in conjunction with the Cross Creek Mall shopping center.
A future exit with Interstate 295 will be located between Santa Fe Drive and Gruber Road.
