Alexandair was a charter airline headquartered in Athens, Greece. It operated charter services on a wet-lease basis for major tour operators. Its main base was Heraklion International Airport.[1] The airline suspended operations in September 2007.
History
The airline was funded by venture capital and had shipping industry backers.[1] On 20 August 2005, the aircraft was grounded for one day, by the Greek aviation authorities, for technical problems. Comments from customers about the safety of the aircraft, as well as the quality of service was generally negative.[2] The airline ceased operations in 2007. Its two aircraft, both MD80s, were stored at Stockholm before being transferred to Khors Aircompany in Ukraine.
Destinations
Alexandair operated charter services from Chania, Corfu, Heraklion, Kos, Thessaloniki and Rhodes.
