Alex Nicholas Gilliead (born 11 February 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Carlisle United, on loan from Newcastle United. Gilliead has also represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-20 international levels.
Club career
Newcastle United
On 4 July 2013, Newcastle United announced that Alex Gilliead signed a three-year contract with the club.[4] In January 2016, he signed a contract extension which would tie him to Newcastle United until 30 June 2018, with the option of one further year.[5]
Loan to Carlisle United
On 14 September 2015, Gilliead joined Carlisle United on a youth loan until October 2015.[6]
On 19 September 2015, Gilliead made his professional debut in a Football League Two fixture against York City. He played from the start and set up both of Carlisle's goals in a 2–2 draw.[7]
International career
Gilliead has represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-20 levels.[3]
