Albania first participated at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.[1] Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) a member organization of the European Broadcasting Union was responsible for the selection process of their first participant.

RTSH previously broadcast the Junior Eurovision Contest in 2005 & 2011.

On 13 March 2015, Albania decided to return to the 2015 contest in Bulgaria.[2]
