Alan Williams (basketball)
Alan Travis Williams (born January 28, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Qingdao DoubleStar in China. Born in Phoenix, Arizona he played high school basketball for North and college basketball for UC Santa Barbara.
College career
Williams played for UC Santa Barbara for four seasons, from 2011 to 2015.[1] He started 97 of his 113 games, averaging 15.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.[1] Williams was named Big West Conference Player of the Year in 2014.[2] He finished his college career as the second all-time leader in Big West in rebounds and blocked shots, with 1,125 and 219 respectively.[3] He was named First-team all-Big West in his sophomore, junior and senior season.[3]
Professional career
On June 30, 2015, Williams joined the Charlotte Hornets and the Houston Rockets for the 2015 NBA Summer League in Orlando and Las Vegas respectively.[4]
On July 17, 2015, Williams recorded 22 points and 21 rebounds en route to a 96-100 loss against the Philadelphia 76ers in the Las Vegas Summer League. As a result of his performances there, he would earn All-NBA Second Team Summer League honors due to his performances throughout the Summer League.[5] He signed his first professional contract with the Qingdao DoubleStar of the Chinese Basketball Association.[5][6]
