State Route 102 (SR 102) is an east–west route in the western part of the state. The western terminus of the route is at its junction with U.S. Highway 43 (US 43) approximately six miles (9.7 km) north of Fayette. The eastern terminus of the route is at its junction with SR 124 at Townley in western Walker County.
Route description
SR 102 serves as a connecting route between Fayette and Jasper. From its western point of origin, the route travels across Fayette and Walker counties. It does not pass through any incorporated cities. It travels eastward along a road with numerous curves. The route reaches its eastern terminus at the unincorporated town of Townley, where it intersects connecting routes leading it to Jasper.[2]
History
SR 102 was designated in 1962. It replaced Fayette and Walker County Road 47.
Future
SR 102 will make an interchange with Interstate 22 as exit 53.
