Akashi Morishige

In this Japanese name, the family name is Akashi.

Akashi Morishige (明石 守重, ? - 1618) was a vassal of Ukita Hideie, the daimyo of Okayama prefecture and fought against Ishida Mitsunari at Sekigahara. He surrendered to Kuroda Nagamasa. Later, he fought for the Toyotomi clan at Osaka Castle. After his side lost, he somehow managed to escape the fall of the castle. He was baptised into the Catholic Church in 1596.
