Ahmed Aflal Jawad

Ahmed Aflal Jawad, SLOS is a Sri Lankan diplomat. He is Sri Lankan Ambassador-designate to Saudi Arabia and former Ambassador to Norway.[1]

Family and education

The son of prominent social worker M.F.A. Jawad, who was the personal assistant to Sir Razik Fareed, he was educated at the Royal College, Colombo, Jawad entered the University of Ceylon.

Career

After graduating he had joined the Sri Lanka Overseas Service. His first appointment was as deputy chief of protocol in 1988 and went on to serve in foreign missions as third secretary in Stockholm, first secretary in Paris and minister in Beijing.

In 2004 he was appointed as Sri Lankan ambassador to Norway, holding the post till 2007 he was posted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General of economic affairs. In 2009 he was appointed as Sri Lankan ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
