Affiance is an American metal band from Cleveland, Ohio, formed in 2007. They released one EP prior to their debut album No Secret Revealed, which was released on label Bullet Tooth Records in December 2010. Vocalist Dennis Tvrdik sings of political and religious issues, often pushing his voice to surprisingly high ranges. He explains the band's nature: "We are a band that strongly believes in the pursuit of truth and happiness. In order to achieve these ideals we must delve into concepts and that we often don't want to think about. We hope that through our music we can inspire people to think for themselves and be pro-active in society."
History
Formation and First EP (2007–2009)
Affiance formed and released their first 6-track EP entitled Calm Before the Storm in late 2007.
After minimal success with the EP, the band strove on and eventually signed a deal with Bullet Tooth records to begin production of their debut album.
Signing to Bullet Tooth Records and debut length album (2010)
With their first EP released, the band began their first nationwide tour with friends Across The Sun and No Bragging Rights. The band admits that working with these bands was an honor that has greatly increased their fan-base and has bettered their friendships.
During this tour, president of Bullet Tooth (Josh Grabelle) saw the band play in New Jersey and was interested immediately. Later, he said, "These guys were one of the best live bands I had ever seen. I truly needed to see them play live to make sure Dennis' vocals weren't studio magic, and they certainly weren't! I was blown away. The whole band was incredible."[1] Incredibly, the same show was played during a hurricane with 60+ MPH winds and rain. Luckily for Affiance, Grabelle was overly impressed and quickly signed the band to the relatively new Bullet Tooth Records.
In the fall of 2010, the band entered the studio and began their preparations for the release of their first full-length album, No Secrets Revealed. "We are very excited and believe, with the help of Bullet Tooth, we will be able to work harder, push further, and accomplish more than we ever have before," said guitarist Brett Wondrak when questioned about his experiences with the label. Their first full-length album, titled No Secret Revealed, was released on December 2, 2010.
In 2011, Affiance's single Call to the Warrior was released as a downloadable track on the popular game Rock Band.[2] In accordance, the band's music video for the song is of them playing their own track on Rock Band.[3]
The Campaign (2012)
On September 6, 2012 Affiance posted on their band's Facebook page that they had finished the recording process of the follow up album to No Secret Revealed and would be embarking on a fall tour with bands Modern Day Escape and Deception of a Ghost. On September 27, 2012 they released their cover of Europe's "The Final Countdown"
The band's follow-up album, The Campaign, was released November 13, 2012. The album features guest vocals from August Burns Red's bassist Dustin Davidson, Memphis May Fire's Matty Mullins and Century's Ricky Armellino.
2013 and Artery Foundation Management
On January 29, 2013 Affiance posted on their bands Facebook page that they were now being managed by the Artery Foundation. They also announced plans for a headlining tour, set to start on 2/16/13 and continued through 3/7/13 with supporting act Glamour of the Kill. Afterward, the band announced that they were asked to open the Killswitch Engage summer headliner The Disarm The Descent Tour with Darkest Hour, Miss May I and The Word Alive.
"Warrior Wednesday" New Album "Blackout" (2014-present)
In 2014, Affiance announced they have been working on a new album. They provide weekly updates about the album on their YouTube channel "AffianceFilms" on a segment they call Warrior Wednesdays.
Affiance released a lyric video for the song "Limitless" on June 28, 2014. After the video is over it states, "A Blackout is coming September 23rd, 2014." It is referring to their new album "Blackout" that will release on that date.
On August 26, 2014, the band released another single from "Blackout", titled "Monuments Fail".
On September 10, 2014, the band released a music video for another single from "Blackout", "FIRE!".
"Blackout" was released on September 23, 2014.
They did a small tour to support the release of Blackout in the September of 2014 and January of 2015.
The band also did another tour to support Miss May I in the October of 2014 on their Road to Knotfest tour.
