Adrian Charles Hamilton[1] (born November 29, 1987) is an American football outside linebacker for the Portland AFL Team of the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at Texas Tech University as a freshman then at Prairie View A&M University for his junior and senior seasons. In 2012, Hamilton signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.
He has also played for the Baltimore Ravens.
College career
Born in Dallas, Texas, Hamilton graduated from David W. Carter High School of Dallas in 2006.[2] Hamilton played college football at Prairie View A&M. He transferred from Texas Tech to Prairie View A&M for 2010 season.[3]
In his freshman year (2007), Hamilton recorded 4 tackles for the season.[4] On November 17, 2007 In the regular season finale against No. 3 ranked Oklahoma in which Hamilton had 2 tackles as Texas Tech wins the game 34-27.[5]
On August 2008, the Texas Tech Red Raiders dismissed Hamilton for violating team rules.[6]
In 2009, Hamilton did not play College football for academic reasons.[7]
In his Junior year (2010) with Prairie View A&M, Hamilton finished the season with 27 tackles and 5.5 sacks.[4]
In his Senior year (2011), Hamilton notched 81 tackles and a school record 22 sacks for the season.[4] On December 6, 2011, He shared 2011 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Year with Grambling State linebacker Cliff Exama.[8] After the season, he was selected to the 2011 all-SWAC defensive first team.[9] The Football Championship Subdivision also recognized Hamilton as Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.[10]
Professional career
Dallas Cowboys
On April 29, 2012, Hamilton signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an Undrafted free agent.[11][12] On August 25, 2012, In a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams, Hamilton had a sack on Kellen Clemens.[13] On August 30, 2012, Hamilton was released.[14][15]
Baltimore Ravens
On September 3, 2012, Hamilton signed with Baltimore Ravens to join the Practice squad.[16][17] On December 22, 2012, Hamilton was promoted to the active roster after the team placed Jameel McClain on Injured Reserve.[18] Hamilton played in the final two regular season games of the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII championship season and made one tackle; he was inactive for the postseason.[19] On August 25, 2013, he was placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2013 NFL season.[20] On June 17, 2014, He was waived.[21][22]
San Diego Chargers
On July 22, 2014, Hamilton signed with San Diego Chargers.[23] The Chargers released Hamilton on August 25, 2014.[24]
Portland Thunder
On July 8, 2015, Hamilton was assigned to the Portland Thunder of the Arena Football League.
