The Abu Dhabi Terminals (Arabic: شركة مرافئ أبوظبى) or ADT was established in May, 2006, as the Port Operator for all the commercial Ports in Abu Dhabi. ADT was formed as part of the restructuring of the commercial ports sector in the Emirate, as the manager and operates of Abu Dhabi’s 3 main ports. It includes Khalifa Port Container Terminal, the region’s first semi-automated and most technologically advanced terminal, which was officially inaugurated on December 12, 2012. The port operator’s other facilities formerly included, until 2014, Zayed Port, a historical port that has served the capital for over 40 years and Musaffah Port, located in the heart of the industrial area.

Khalifa Port

Abu Dhabi Terminals secured the exclusive right to manage and operate Khalifa Port Container Terminal for 30 years, Khalifa Port has a Phase 1 capacity of 2.5 million TEU containers and 12 million tonnes of general cargo a year and an expected capacity of 15 million TEU containers and 35 million tonnes of general cargo by 2030. It features the region’s only semi-automated container terminal, some of the world’s largest ship-to-shore cranes,[1] and other container handling equipment for loading and unloading container ships, including some of the world’s largest.
