Chekannoor Maulavi murder case

PKM Abdul Hassan, popularly known as Chekannur Maulavi, was a progressive Islamic cleric from Kerala, went missing on July 29, 1993.[17] According to his wife Howah Umma, he left his home to deliver a speech on the invitation of two unidentified people in a vehicle that did not have a number plate. Following a complaint by his wife and uncle Salim Haji, an investigation was launched that also drew considerable public attention. The CBI took over the case in 1996. According to CBI charge sheet, Chekannoor was abducted and murdered. Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musaliyar was added as the 10th accused in the Chekannur Moulavi murder case.[18] Special CBI Judge Kamal B. Pasha arraigned Kanthapuram as an accused in the case in 2005. But the Kerala High Court quashed the order against him. Chekannoor's family family approached the Supreme Court with the special CBI judge's observation, but the plea was not admitted.[6]
