A Flair for the Dramatic is the debut studio album released June 26, 2007 by post-hardcore band Pierce the Veil. It was recorded after disbanding their former group Before Today, which featured the Fuentes brothers.

Background and recording

It was revealed in December 2006 that Before Today changed their name to Pierce the Veil, and that they had posted a few songs on their Myspace account.[1] It was announced on May 3, 2007 that Pierce the Veil had signed to Equal Vision, and that they would release their album, A Flair for the Dramatic on June 26 the same year.[2] In September and October, the band supported Chiodos.[3]

It was produced by Casey Bates, along with Vic Fuentes, and was recorded with only the Fuentes brothers taking up all instrument duties.

Release

On May 10, 2007, the artwork and track listing for the album was revealed.[4] A music video for "Currents Convulsive" was released on June 19.[5] The album was released by Equal Vision on June 26,[6] it charted at number 61 on the Heatseekers Albums chart in the U.S.[7][nb 1]

The band supported Emery for their tour national tour around the U.S. from January 29 to March 22, 2008.[8] The band released a music video in mid-2008 for their single "Yeah Boy and Doll Face", which was directed by Nate Weaver in Los Angeles.[8] The band headlined a tour, with support from Breathe Carolina, Four Letter Lie, and Emarosa, from October 17 to November 29 where they played most of the songs off A Flair for the Dramatic.[9] A music video for "Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides"[10] was aired mid-2009.
