A Dog's Purpose is an upcoming American comedy film directed by Lasse Hallström and written by Audrey Wells. It is based on the 2010 novel A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron. The film stars Britt Robertson, Dennis Quaid, Bradley Cooper, Peggy Lipton and Juliet Rylance. The film is scheduled to be released on January 27, 2017, by Universal Pictures.

Production

On May 8, 2015, it was announced Lasse Hallström would direct the film.[4] On August 5, 2015, Britt Robertson and Dennis Quaid joined the cast.[1] On September 18, 2015, Pooch Hall was cast in the film.[3] On October 15, 2015, Bradley Cooper joined the cast to play the dog's inner voice.[2] Principal photography began on August 17, 2015.[5]

Release

In December 2015, it was announced the film would be distributed by Universal Pictures in first quarter 2017.[6] The film is scheduled to be released on January 27, 2017, by Universal Pictures.[7]
