A Chip Off the Old Block is the ninth album of tunes associated with Count Basie by jazz saxophonist Stanley Turrentine recorded for the Blue Note label and performed by Turrentine with Shirley Scott, Blue Mitchell, Earl May, and Al Harewood with Tom McIntosh and Charles Davis added on two tracks.[2]

The Allmusic review by Michael G. Nastos awarded the album 3½ stars and states "The spare approach of Basie is hard to ignore, and though not essential in Turrentine's discography, it is an interesting item that showcases his lighter side positively".[4]
