Winter Dew Tour

The Winter Dew Tour is controlled and arranged by the U.S. sports broadcaster NBC Sports and Alli Sports which focuses on winter extreme sports. The first Winter Dew Tour was held in the winter of 2008/2009 with events in snowboarding and freestyle skiing. Participants compete to win bronze, silver and gold medals, and prize money.[1]

With a summer tour counterpart that debuted in 2005, the Winter Dew Tour consists of three events in which snowboard and freeski athletes earn points over the course of the season for a shot at the year-end title.[1] There are multiple events at each stop on the Tour, each including superpipe and slopestyle disciplines for both men and women. The events are televised live on NBC plus other coverage on USA, MTV, and MTV2.

In May 2013, the United States Ski and Snowboard Association reached an agreement with Alli to allow a Winter Dew Tour event in Breckenridge, Colorado to serve as a qualifying event for the 2014 Winter Olympics team. The arrangement gives the USSA control over certain aspects of the event (such as its format, and selling advertising to its own official sponsors during the telecast), and will also be used to help promote its own Grand Prix series.[2]
